Club foot, also known as congenital talipes equinovarus (CTEV), is a congenital deformity of the foot that occurs in 1–2 out of every 1,000 newborns. When there is a lateral curve, forming an "S" shape when viewed from behind, this condition is called scoliosis. Many conditions can lead to scoliosis: congenital vertebral anomalies, neurological disorders, and many syndromes. However, most cases of scoliosis occur as an isolated issue, not related to other conditions. The cause of scoliosis is unknown, hence it is called idiopathic scoliosis.
